Niamh Barry is an Irish artist working across abstract painting, text and intuitive mixed media.

Niamh Barry is an Irish artist based in Dublin. Her practice moves between abstract painting, text, found language and intuitive mixed media, exploring memory, meaning and the strange systems we inhabit simply by being alive.

Her work begins with noticing: recurring images, overheard phrases, symbols, coincidences, emotional residue and the small events of everyday life. These fragments are gathered and reworked through a process that moves between structure and instinct - layering, obscuring, interrupting and allowing the work to reveal itself through making.

Her ongoing project Everyday Omens treats the everyday as a kind of living archive: a place where apparently insignificant things can accumulate meaning. Rather than resolving these fragments into fixed narratives, the work leaves room for ambiguity, intuition and the viewer's own associations.

Alongside her studio practice, Niamh has spent over a decade working with movement, meditation and embodied practices. This background continues to inform the physical and intuitive way she approaches making - less as a separate discipline than another way of paying attention.
